Single Heaven

Okay, Detroit is not really heaven for those of us in singledom but life is pretty good. Forbes Magazine even backs that up by ranking Detroit as the 16th Best City for Singles. Apparently last year, Detroit was ranked 32nd. How the jump is explained I don’t know, but oh well.

I do have an issue that the top ten coffee places doesn’t mention the best coffee shop in Detroit. Where’s the love for Cafe de Troit? Great coffee and atmosphere with wireless actually in Downtown Detroit? No brainer…

Only one of my personal favorites was mentioned – Cass Cafe. The rest of my normal haunts remained off the list but then again, all my favorite are downtown Detroit. The lists are fairly inclusive of the entire Metro Detroit area though some selections are a little odd. Home Depot is one of the best bars?

I’m sad that “The Blend” across from Cobo didn’t make the best coffee list. Fabulous coffee plus fruity smoothies in that neighborhood! How can you go wrong? I wonder how those businesses are judged anyway, especially in national publications.

How could the Cranbrook Institute of Science be the #10 bar, while my favorite ACTUAL BARS (Cadiuex Cafe, Bookies, Baile Corceigh, etc.) are not mentioned. Home Depot was on the bar list too? Clearly this survery does not hold any water, or in this case…beer.
