My First Detroit Election

I voted in my first Detroit election yesterday, and have to say that I was pleased with the entire voting process.

I arrived at my polling location, the Coleman A. Community Center, located on Bradby just north of Lafayette, a few minutes after 6:00 pm – and got into my car to leave at 6:34 pm. Not bad.

Upon walking up to the building, I was approached by quite a few volunteers from various campaigns, and given printed information and short speeches on why I should vote for the person they were campaigning for. I graciously accepted the flyers and printed postcards, which I immediately stuffed into my purse and exchanged for one tiny slip of paper that contained the names and offices of the people I was voting for. I was thankful that I had already researched the candidates running for the various offices and had written them down
