I am now contemplating buying a home in Detroit and really do not know where to begin. I have great dreams of moving into a beautiful old house and fixing it up. Unfortunately my eyes are too big for my wallet; so, a ready to move in deal is what I

Mollika,
My name is Gideon and I manage a branch of Premier Mortgage Funding. I currently live downtown and love it. Deciding to buy a home is a very exciting yet stressful experience. The first thing you want to do is to make sure you know exactly what type of a place you can afford to buy. I suggest getting in touch with a bank or mortgage broker, like myself, to get pre-approved for a mortgage. That is unless you are planning on paying cash :) I can do that pre-approval for you if you wish. (248) 797-5748.

The 12 year tax abatement isn’t just on condos. It can be found on some houses in certain parts of Woodbridge and North Corktown as well. But, with a house, comes yardwork. Blecch.
Try Don Bailey with Century 21. His website is http://www.detroitoldhouse.com. Good guy.
Try Boston-Edison. :-)
Oops, Don Bailey specializes in old houses. I didn’t read your post right…looks like you want a condo.

sabra is also another lady who has some nice properties… http://www.sabra-realestate.com/
I’d recommend looking at homes too – especially in Corktown and Woodbridge as they are growing neighborhoods. I also know of a house for sale in Grosse Pointe – good price, great location.
And yes, fireworks are a valid selling point, though why buy something simply because once a year you see some fireworks. I realized last night, not only will I be able to the Freedom Fest fireworks, but I can just some of Comerica Parks. Hehehe
