Hurricane Katrina Relief

Give.gif

After watching the reports of the devastation from Hurricane Katrina, I wondered what could I do. Right now, the most useful thing is donating to one of the many charities helping the victims. The American Red Cross is a preferred charity for me (I am an ARC First Aid/CPR Instructor). However, there are many organizations you can choose from based on your personal preferences. In fact, Network for Good helps you find charities that best fit your interest or desire.

And a reminder, our fellow metbloggers in New Orleans are doing a bang up job in sharing news and personal experiences on the effects. Keep it up and our thoughts are with you!

I had the exact same reaction after watching the reports of devastation. Yes everyone was giving to one of the many charities in the area. I did give too, but was not satisfied. I did’nt know, what else I could do sitting here in Detroit, so I started a website http://www.weshallrise.org (titled “New Orleans Shall Rise – Open for Business”). Here I show on a map where businesses are opening up. Hope the map on my site is covered completely with markers and New Orleans and the Gulf Coast is soon back to pre-katrina days.
