Doggie Day Care
Years ago, I had a black poodle named Suzette. Problem was I was in elementary school and both my parents worked all day, so not six months after Suzette joined the family, she packed her bags and headed to a farm. There she wasn’t left alone all day and was much happier. Maybe if we had doggie day care, Suzette would have stayed around. (Then again, I am admittedly not much of a pet person, so mom did much of the work.)
Here in Detroit, your beloved dog doesn’t have to spend the days alone. Canine to Five Dog Daycare opened in May and offers both daycare and boarding services. Your dog can spend the day happily playing with other friendly dogs or just lounge and watch the (supervised) fun. A trained staff is there is monitor the fun and skilled to deal with any your dog has.
Check it out. No reason for Fido to spend the days bored and alone. I mean come on, don’t those dogs look like they are happy as can be!
At $25 per day they’d better be serving the dogs steak and grooming them too!
Who can afford 5 days a week doggie day care?!
That’s serious cash.
Maybe there’s some sort of ROBOT dog pal…
Or a web-cam aimed at your pooch, and you control a robotic arm to pet the dog and toss it toys…
It is pricy, but it is nice to know I have this option for my dog. I have a feeling that mine would have to be sent to the corner an awful lot. There is a notice in our lunchroom advertising a 10% discount to all Wayne State University employees.
It is a value judgement based on what you think your pet is worth. Compare it to child care – which ain’t any cheaper. Before you jump down my throat for comparing dogs and kids, think of all the people who consider their dog a part of their family/a child.
Pet daycare is one of the fastest growing sucessful small businesses in the US so there are people who think it is valuable.
My dog Max goes to Canine to Five and loves it. We don’t send him every day–it would be hard to afford–but it’s more than worth it to send him one or two days a week so that he can socialize with other dogs instead of being bored in the house! Liz and the rest of the staff are great with the dogs.
