Helping the animals

The Michigan Animal Adoption Network and Michigan Animal Rescue League are working to rescue hundreds of animals orphaned by Hurricane Katrina. The Humane Society says that as many as 50,000 pets have been displaced and only 300-400 have been reunited with their owners.

To date, hundreds of animals have been moved to Michigan. Not only are volunteers working to rescue and transport them, but veterinarians and assistants are also providing examinations and care at no cost, according to an article in today’s Free Press. That article also lists some ways to help, whether through donations or adoptions. I know so many have supported and donated in many ways, but hey, if you have a few extra bucks…
