Take the Citizen Budget Program survey
Have you taken the 2005 Survey of Citizen City Service Priorities? Every year from September 1 – November 1, Detroit’s “Citizen Budget Program” organizes public meetings and publishes a survey (hard copy and online) to facilitate a dialogue with the commuity regarding important city services and tough budget decisions.
Last year, 353 Detroit citizens participated and some of the prioritized issues were public safety, natural environment, precinct response, dumpsite cleanup and street lighting. One important finding in the program was that there are a number of major city services that people do not understand or are not clearly communicated and publicized (2004 Citizen Budget Program Report).
I know many of you had strong feelings about the budget cuts — here’s one avenue for feedback.
