Dow Town

Came across this during one of my explorations of the city. There was a dead plant in the upstairs window. So many times, I come across places that look like someone was just there or expecting to come back, but never did. It is amazing how many little time capsules are accidentally preserved in the city.

I have experienced the same thing. A while ago before I moved downtown, I was in an old building that a law firm must have been in at one time but had left. There were file drawers full of stuff and coffee mugs on the desks. It looked like the people had just vanished and left everything behind.

I always find the different layers of history that are left behind in buildings to be fascinating. Even if it’s just paperwork, you tend to be drawn into that person’s life.

If I remember correctly, this particular building had a fire a year ago, and the shops that remained were forced to close up.
