Perhaps the writing/direction was subject to the typical destruction caused by "too-many cooks in the kitchen." That's why I stick to humor pieces - like "Curb your Enthusiasm" (by far the best you can find) - (find it on NETFLIX). Putting all the hokey-ness aside, the Serenity website is REALLY REALLY well-put together.
