Don’t put those summer clothes away just yet…

I usually reserve the first weekend of October to do what I refer to as a “wardrobe shift”.

I go through everything in my closet, pull out all of my warm-weather clothes and accessories – shorts, sleeveless tops, sandals, sunhats – box them up, and store them away until the weather starts to get warm again.

Call me crazy, but I actually look forward to this little tradition of mine, which I have been doing for a number of years. It gets me in the mood for the coming change of seasons, keeps me organized, and is a good time to pull out the items I no longer wear so they can be donated to someone who will use them.

This year, though, it looks like my fall wardrobe shift will have to wait at least another week. With a high temperature of 76 degrees today, and 81 degrees, 84 degrees, and 81 degrees for the next few days, it appears that I will need my warm weather clothes for at least a little while longer.

You know, I can’t seem to find any of my winter stuff. After getting the carpet taken out of the house and shifting the entire house of furniture into the basement and garage to get the hardwood floors re-done – everything is elsewhere. Fortunately I can just cut a hole in a fleece blanket and wear it like a poncho in a pinch…

Thanks for the comment, Jeff. I haven’t done any carpet to wood floors, but I have moved a bunch in the last 2 years – 4 times to be exact – so I understand about not knowing where things are : )
