New YMCA in Downtown Detroit Opens in Early December
I love my local YMCA, (Southgate) and to think that residents (and lunchtime workers) in downtown Detroit had to go without a place to swim and play sports (especially in the winter time) is downright nuts.
Thank goodness for the Boll family and its generous contribution towards the building of the new YMCA which opens around December 1st at 1401 Broadway and Grand River. Swimming Lap lanes! I can’t wait! And there is going to be a whole Arts and Humanities section in the facility (Mrs. Boll is a dancer). When the ice is in the Campus Martius Park skating rink, (and sadly, also on the petanque courts) we can further enjoy the philanthropy of more people who believe in the new Detroit.
