WJR and MSU
WJR says, “Go Blue Go Green, Go White.”
Yesterday, WJR announced that it would become the flagship radio station for MSU, a five-year agreement that begins next season. This ends nearly thirty straight years of UM coverage on 760. Michael Feezey, president and general manager of WJR, cited the great momentum at MSU in academics and research and successes in football (?) and basketball as the basis for the decision to switch. WJR will bring live coverage of Spartan football and men’s basketball, along with weekly call-in shows with basketball coach Tom Izzo and football coach John L. Smith.
I know some UM people who won’t be too thrilled. Wonder where Jim Brandstatter and Frank Beckmann will go? I imagine this is a pretty uncomfortable situation for them.
Edit: I think maybe UT and I were composing at the same time — I just didn’t want anyone to think I couldn’t come up with my own posts :)
LOL! Oops… sorry, Stacey. Yours is much more concise; I’m sure my readers will REALLY appreciate that! :-)
I’ll be seeing my Uncle Frank this weekend so I’ll ask him if he knows what the future holds : )
