Marathon Border Stop

WDET had a news report that about 30 runners were detained at the border yesterday during the marathon. Apparently someone triggered the radiation sensor while in the tunnel. Although they didn’t determine which runner was responsible, it is assumed a runner recently underwent a stress test.

It is estimated the runners were detained approximately 30 seconds. Doesn’t sound like much, but some runners are justifiably upset about the delay. Detroit is a qualifier for the Boston Marathon and 30 seconds can be a determining factor. Heck, I knew a runner who missed the cutoff for the Olympics by 4 seconds.

Yep, MGAL, I was only 4 seconds away from my Olympic dream. Believe me, I was completely crushed… Had to get out of running completely.. turn to a different sport…

    …petanque.
