Go White Sox!

Congratulations, Chicago White Sox!

A little advice from one (Red) Sox fan to another (White) Sox fan. This next year will be difficult. You feel like you know you won, but really you are still in shock. This is what you’ve been waiting for your entire life and now that it is here, you know you should party. Yet, you aren’t fully enjoying the party because you just don’t know how to act. What is baseball now without a curse? What do you yell when the team plays awful? How do you console yourself when they lose the big game?

For me, the reality didn’t set in till December of last year. I could finally accept with no sense of disbelief that the Red Sox had won. Now it is your turn.

Next year, you will be faced with an overload of fad fans. People cheering for your beloved team solely because they are on top. You’ll know them because they won’t have the look a wearied fans, the scars of the heartbreak and their caps won’t be worn in. They won’t be able to name the heros and zeros of the team. They won’t understand the emotionally attachment you have to a simple game. And most of all, they will force you to defend your long-time devotion to your Sox.

Welcome to the curse-breaking, winners circle. I wanted the Red Sox to repeat, but I am nearly as happy you did.

Yes, indeed, the winning of a World Series for the first time, (or in a long time) destroys any idea that losing that many times, in all of those years was due to a curse.

That it was, in fact, due to being a lousy 2nd rate team.

Yankees?! Who mentioned the Yankees? Are you one of those Yankee fans? After all, Maine does’nt have any baseball teams so they have to latch on to whatever they can get…

    I’m confused about 1 thing…

When visiting Maine (or anywhere in New England for that matter) all of the shops have T-Shirts and Caps that say things like:

    Yankee Hater

I Support Any Team the Beats the Yankees

and yet… go to New York City, and there’s nothing at all about the Red Soxs… they don’t exist!

Congrats to the ChiSox! They almost lost a playoff spot down the stretch, but they pulled it out. It’s refreshing to see a team win by doing the small things and actually using teamwork, instead of seeing who can spend the most money and who can hit the most home runs.

Any team that beats/out-does the Yankees is a team of mine! (Until the next season starts. Restore the Roar 2006!)
