Race for City Clerk
The City Clerk race has been narrowed down to two candidates: Incumbent Jackie Currie and challenger Janice Winfrey.
Jackie Currie has held the position since 1994 and it just seems like it may be time for some change. There is too much controversy over Detroit voting, whether it is lost ballots, misuse of absentee ballots or just plain defiance when asked about the issues. Lately the discussion has been about whether or not Currie used city money to essentially fund her advertising campaign. If she approached the discussions with a willingness to present her side in a professional manner, I’d be fine with it. But often she comes off as overly defiant and more concerned about herself than the Detroit voters.
Ten years is long enough. I do believe in changing the horse mid-stream. Do you?
It’s way overdue! The nonsense surrounding this clerk is ridiculous! It’s as if we were voting in a third world country!
