Downtown Hotels
My fiance and I are getting married in Detroit in May and are starting to think about which downtown hotels to reserve rooms at for our out-of-town guests.
Have you had an excellent experience at a hotel in downtown Detroit? What was so great about it? Or, maybe you had a horrible experience – I’d love to hear about that, too. Please also explain what was so bad about it.
I’ve heard mixed opinions about Hotel Ponchartrain and nothing but good news about the Pantheon and Marriott at the RenCen, however the last two are a little more pricey. Yahoo has some helpful reviews of area hotels if you haven’t checked with them.
How about renting out the Woodbridge Star and the new bed and breakfast on Winder? Then you would be supporting small Detroit based businesses as well as giving your guests a little something different?
don’t forget The Inn on Ferry St….
Or they can crash on the floor at my studio. Just bring some Aero-Beds and you’re set!
I love The Atheneum in Greektown — it’s a little pricey as all the rooms are suites, but it’s nice for families with two queens and a pull-out sofa. Plus, you can’t beat the location. I’ve stayed there twice in the last six months.
I’ve read some bad reviews on the Leland House AKA Ramada about it being really run-down.
I think a good one would be the new Hilton Garden Inn
The Atheneum is nice. I stayed there with a bunch of girlfriends this summer in the two bed suite. It was pretty nice. It is a bit pricey though. However five of us girls stayed in the two bedroom (there is a pullout). I hear they have a fantastic honeymoon suite that is 1600 sq. feet.
I have always used the Marriott at the RenCen and loved it! The service is great and the view can be amazing!
Thanks, everybody!
I have stayed at all but one of the hotels in downtown Detroit and have my own experiences to rely on, but thought it would help to find out what everyone else’s experiences were at the hotels.
Thanks again!
