Detroit & Michigan Petanque Clubs on Detroit Public Television

GetUpGetOut.JPG

As some of you may know, I play petanque (as do Allan, Melissa, and Bobby) at Campus Martius Park. It’s a sport similar to Italian bocce (or horseshoes, even marbles). Part of the allure of the sport is that we can mix children in with adults when we play.

Detroit Public Television’s childrens show, “Get Up! Get Out!” filmed an episode with us over two days this week. It airs Friday (5pm);Saturday (9am) and all month (On-Demand Comcast).

Check us out during the work week (12-1pm); and Saturdays (9:30am – 5:30pm)

Good for you guys! That is great.

I have watched Get Up, Get Out before on Comcast On Demand (under Local Programs, I think) and it is a really good show that highlights cool things for kids to do in the D.

I picked up an advance copy from Detroit Public TV… and they did a fantastic job on the edits.. made me look less “Deer in the Headlights” and more… Quentin Tarantino… Okay, perhaps more Steve Buschemi…

I can’t believe you missed that shot… it was cute but I would have liked to see more kids, less Jeppy.

Just watched the Get Up, Get Out episode with Petanque. Great job, Jeff, on the explanation of the game and teaching the hosts how to play. They seemed very intrigued with the game.

So how does someone get a copy of this if they are out of the viewing range? Now I know why Mgal is such a natural at this game. Mmom was the marble champ and there wasn’t a boy left in elementary school that didn’t go down in defeat! Mmmm, I wonder where that bag is?

I hardly had time to even view the episode because I flew down that Friday night to Miami Beach for a petanque (what else?!) tournament. We did watch it again in one of the South Beach bars, but there wasn’t any sound. I’m pleased with the results, and know it will help kids to get involved with Detroit things…

As for MMOM + MDAD’s request… your DVD copy is on it’s way…
