White Stripes on The Daily Show

Did anyone see the White Stripes on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart tonight?

At the beginning of the show, Jon Stewart announced that Jack and Meg would be playing, and then immediately assured the audience and viewing public that there was nothing odd about the duo being on the show – The Daily Show asked them to be on, and they agreed, and that was that. There was no money involved, and no sponsorship or PR ploy. The Stripes just happened to be the first musical act ever on the show.

Yet, even with Stewart’s comments, the whole show seemed a bit “off”. Don’t get me wrong – I love the Stripes, but just found it a little…different. I don’t know, maybe I just like The Daily Show how it is because it’s so different than the other late-night programs. Oh, and as usual, Meg and Jack did sound great.

Stewart and the Stripes: two things I don’t get.

Of course, if others enjoy them then that’s good enough.

I feel the same way, I love both Jon Stewart and the White Stripes, but it just seemed really odd to me…like I was suddenly watching Late Night w/Conan O’Brien. The second half of the show does seem boring to me at times, so this was a nice change of pace.

Not to mention the fact that the last couple seconds got cut by the Colbert Report. After all that hype, you think they would have gotten the timing right…

    But, how’s the pot?

I agree…that Colbert Report cut-in is very annoying.
