Preservation and the City

This morning, WDET report Jeff Wattrick did a piece on preservation in the city. At heart is the contention of a hit list of 100 buildings to be demolished. Groups like the DEGC contend the list does not exist. There is an inventory of 140 buildings in Detroit with various recommendations, including demolition for some but mostly restoration. Preservationist swear the list must exist because government officials have spoken about it. No one has ever produced a hard copy of the list.

I never understood why Wattrick was still walking the city beat when lesser talents like Bonds, Mort Crim and Dan Rather rose to the top. It’s a dog eat dog world out there. Jeff needs to eat some more dogs.
