Detroit finds home for Youth Education Town
This was announced a few weeks ago, but I figured I should post an update to my first mention of Youth Education Town (YET).
The $6 million, 30,000-square-foot complex will be built on 4.7 acres in the new Gardenview Estates community, bordered by the Southfield Freeway, Joy Road, Tireman Avenue and Asbury Park Street. It will feature a gymnasium, game room, teen center, multi-media art studio, arts and craft center, playground, athletic field and more. Construction is set to begin next spring and the NFL has promised, at it has to each of the YETs in Super Bowl cities, ongoing support to the center. Other donors and matching supporters include the Detroit Super Bowl XL Host Committee, Richard Dauch of American Axle & Manufacturing Holdings, Inc., Detroit Lions Charities and Lions former coach Steve Mariucci.
