Today’s MetroTimes Lists 9 Detroit-Blogs “Riding the Wave”

and guess what? We’re not listed among them!

Couldn’t they have made room for a listing of just a few more Blogs? I would have settled for #15

I did like the BLOG about the Tu-Tu’s covering the “snow shrouds” – Check it out. There’s also a link on that BLOG to Lamp-posts in Baltimore being sawn off and stolen in the MIDDLE OF THE DAY! Heck, that kind of chutzpah theft makes our City’s vandals look downright lazy! (which is a good thing).

It is not like it was a top ten list or anything. There were a lot of good Detroit blogs missing from the article.

Baliad: Thanks! I like to saturate my existence with humor, and one of my favorite ways to communicate is through the 1 Picture = 1,000 words approach.

I don’t think they said they were going to cover every blog, and it would be a stretch to say Metblog Detroit is in the top.

They did Detroitblog, Hamtramck Star, Snowsuit and a few I wasn’t familiar with. Sorry but any one of them beats this effort. DetroitArts? That’s questionable, but she’s still more of a personal voice than anything here.

I wouldn’t classify Firejerryo as a blog, but it’s about the most politically valuable thing out there locally.

More telling are the clusterfucks that they ignored. Not to say THIS page is a clusterfuck. I’m thinking of one or two others out there.

Did I sound like a whiney baby? You know, maybe I did come off as a whiney baby. Okay, so maybe Detroit MetBlogs isn’t THE definitive Detroit Blog … i’m just biased…

I didn’t mean to be all that critical of MetblogDetroit. It’s just that this page is new and it takes time to find a voice, and the fact that this is made by a conglomeration of contributors may very well keep it from ever finding its voice.

It is what it is. I look at it, but I go elsewhere for more compelling reading.

Anon: What you say is true. With a group effort, you’re not going to necessarily have 1 voice, but I feel that is more representative and fair for a community-Blog (which I feel Detroit MetBlogs is). Just as a newspaper carries a myriad of viewpoints, I like that a reader can come to this one venue – and depending upon who may wish to cover a subject – get a chance to read about a variant opinion to what may have been expected.

With sole-proprietor Blogs, you do get a pretty consistent take on matters (unless the Blog owner has a multiple personality) and many people like to read Blogs which offer a predictibility of view.

In a way, perhaps, we’re a Shock-Blog… we’re the “Box o’ Chocolates” – Yah never know what yer gonna git… though it’s all pretty much edible!

Yes, we are still finding our voice. Since July, we added and dropped authors so still finding the balance. And we are still accepting authors, so feel free to apply and add your voice.

And besides, here, you never know what Jeppy is going to post next. He is extremely unpredictable.
