United Artist Rebirth?

First the marquee came down and now the windows are being scrapped. So the big question is what is going on at the United Artist Building? Illitch Holdings claims they have some exciting news to share soon. The question is: is the news about demolition or rehab?

United Artist just isn’t United Artist without the painted windows. It was such an unique sight.

I can’t imagine they’d demolish it because why would they go tot he trouble of boarding up the windows and taking down the marquee? They’d just smash the whole building down.

The exciting news? I heard they’re turning the whole place into a community art center. One floor for fine arts (oil painting) another for sculpture; yet another for metal work. Others will be gallery floors, and there will be inexpensive art classes for all of the residents of Wayne County.

i agree with jeff… they wouldn’t spend time on the windows if they weren’t gonna rehab it… then again…

isn’t their a theater in there??? what are the chances of them doing anything with that???

Doubtful anything will happen with the theatre considering Illitch owns Fox Theatre right around the corner. Already a lot of theatre seats in the area.

The theater will be parking. Nice flat gravel parking.
