Good deeds come in small packages

When I read this story about a four-year-old boy donating his life savings – $45.76 – to Brownstown’s Marshland’s Museum and Nature Center, I couldn’t help but smile.

The boy, Lance Lawton, likes the museum so much that he decided to empty out the coins in his piggybank – most of which he earned from operating a lemonade stand last year – and gave it to the museum. According to the article, the little guy with the big heart made the donation ‘so everybody can come over and see the fish’.

You can read Lance’s story in today’s ‘Good Deeds’ section of the Detroit News online. ‘Good Deeds’ is a weekly feature highlighting extraordinary things done by ordinary people. Or, in this case, children.
