Oh Holiday Shopping

Grocery shopping in Detroit can always be fun. Despite popular rumor, there is no lack of grocery stores in town. The fun part is finding the right store for what you need. Instead of the mega-stores suburbanites are used to, city residents have smaller grocery stores with a few Farmers Jacks thrown in for good measure. Some days you have to go to multiple grocery stores to find all your grocery needs.

Last night was not the night for me to be bouncing between grocery stores looking for everything I need for Christmas dinner and my parents’ visit. A lot of the items I picked up are things I usually get at Eastern Market, but I haven’t been there in a few weeks. After three grocery store stops and nearly two hours of shopping, I found everything I think I need. Of course, later when I related my frustrations, my friends proceeded to name another three stores I should have visited.

Wouldn’t it have been easier to purchase 8 microwaveable TV-Dinners instead?

Jeppy – yea, sure. You serve microwaveable dinners to parents who have driven 15 hrs to see you and parents who have worked all day at a bakery….

Baliad… I was also crabby as could be. Still apologizing to my very understanding boyfriend.

I have about six pheasants in my freezer. Drop me a mail if you want one or two.
