Brokeback Mountain — not showing near you

Have I missed the reason why Brokeback Mountain is not being shown at hardly any theatres around here? I’ve found only three locations “near” me: Landmark Main Art Theatre in Royal Oak, AMC Livonia 20 and AMC Forum 30 in Sterling Heights. Are Star Theatres and MJR not showing it?

Okay, I know they aren’t showing it. I should have been more specific — does anyone know why they aren’t showing it?

I’m sure it isn’t because the theatres are opposed to making money, as according to boxoffice.com it is was in the top ten in earnings in North America. It is always possible that it wasn’t faring well in Michigan, or that someone made a decision that audiences here would not be interested.

Personally, I’m a sucker for a good love story and a good looking cast.
