Pistons: 83-68 Spanking of the Spurs!!!

a co-worker of mine told me that tonight was a guaranteed loss… i said, “you never know”… i told him i wouldn’t have been surprised if we won, and wel,l we spanked ’em!!! of course hindsight is 20/20, but i considered posting a prediction for tonight’s game on here and maybe i’ll take it up for the next big game???

tonight’s win was definitely a statement… the Pistons swept the season series with the Spurs, destroying them by 15 points in each contest… can’t complain about that… tonight Rasheed Wallace was the star with 27 points and Rip Hamilton scored 22 even though he was being covered by defensive star Bruce Bowen… Ben Wallace only had 12 boards and Chauncey scored 9 measly points but had 14 dimes and Tayshaun had a season high of 12 boards…

even though the Spurs are a mentally tough team, i still think this has to be in their heads… we beat them handly at our place and at their place… tonight’s win said something to the Spurs and to the rest of the NBA… simply: we’re the best… here’s an early prediction: the Pistons will win the 2006 NBA championship… i suppose it’s not really going out on a limb right now, but i thought i’d say it since i regret not revealing my earlier prediction of the win tonight…

my only concern is that all of the starters played over 37 minutes each… sheesh… i could see that being a problem in the playoffs… hopefully our bench will be more used down the line… i don’t think it’s that our bench isn’t good, i think it’s that our bench isn’t used… it’s up to Flip to make that happen… i know the starters need the minutes, but you know, just in case…

28-5… nice…

This was also the first time that the Spurs lost at home in 12 games!

Don’t buy the talk radio hype — 37 minutes/game is not a lot. That’s what Tay is averaging on the year (he leads the team), and he’s ranked 36th in the league. The only reason it seems like a lot is because we have five excellent starters, whereas most teams have a weak spot or two that only manage 25 minutes/game, but there isn’t a single individual Piston that’s being overworked. Plus tonight’s numbers were a little skewed with Carlos Arroyo suspended — he usually plays about 12 minutes.

matt, i hear ya… i don’t listen to talk radio much though… but i figure that if we can get our bench more involved and more rest for our starters, it could only help…

The Pistons are on top of their game right now. We can only hope the starters do not fatigue over the course of the season. 37 minutes isn’t too bad for one game, but that kind of beating through the course of an 82 game season can be very tiring. Mo Evans, Arroyo, and McDyess are all as important to this team as Tayshaun Prince, Rip Hamilton, and Chauncey Billups are. (Oh no I didn’t!)

that’s quite the statement rip… while i totally see your point, i can’t say i agree with you… losing chauncey would be extremely detrimental, while losing arroyo was a minor setback… we are a team though, so we need ’em all… i’d like to have ’em rested up for the playoffs…

i heard ben tweaked his knee a bit??? that would be horrendous for us…
