More similarities between Detroit and Miami

En route to my cruise last week, my fiance and I spent about 24 hours in beautiful, sunny Miami.

Although the two cities aren’t alike in terms of climate – it was 76 degrees there last week – they do share more than a few things in common.

Miami has a RiverWalk, similar to the one Detroit is building, and it also has a public monorail system that looks strikingly similar to Downtown Detroit’s People Mover.

Except the Monorail, as limited as it is, can at least take you from one area to the next – from part of the suburbs (North Kendall/South Miami) to downtown to Hialeah. The People Mover goes in a circle.

Very cool. I wish Detroit’s People Mover went at least to Midtown and New Center. A stop at Eastern Market would also be cool : )
