“Detroit’s Supercenter for the Super Game” is the slogan that adorns metro area Meijers stores; however, there is not one Meijers in Detroit proper. I think it would be a great to have the Michigan success story open a relatively small location in the city and earn the right to use the slogan. It would be a perfect fit, as it is a full service store providing anything one could desire for their home in the city.

that is a strange slogan, but we’re all Detroit right??? i heard an ad on the radio about royal oak calling it Detroit’s “Super Suburb”… made me chuckle…
last i heard, Meijer wants nothing to do with Detroit proper… it would be wonderful if we had one though…
just this morning FOX2 news was outside a downtown retail store that had been broken into last night and they interviewed the owner who was (obviously) angry and he said he was giving “the city” one more chance before moving out…i think they (FOX2) have, in that 2 minute piece damaged at least some of the positive spin so many are working so hard to put on the downtown shopping idea. you know as well as i do that there is at least one person who was considering giving a small store a shot and has now reconsidered because of it. i have, in the past mentioned it, too, only to have freinds and family tell me to make sure i spend a lot of money on alarms and/or a gun. we shouldn’t stick our heads in the sand but retail stores get broken into everyday…everywhere. i own a retail store in the suburbs and have had my share of B&E over the years but they’ve never been televised.
