Twingos
When my father was in town this past weekend, we wandered into Twingos for the first time. I was stunned. I had no idea how posh it was, or even how big it was. The food was divine. The potato garlic soup is amazing and the steak with garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus, my absolute favourite meal, was perfect. The Caesar salad was great and the crème brûlée was almost too lovely to eat and even harder to decide upon as the list of deserts is delightfully long. The wait staff is very friendly and a rather attractive bunch in artsy black attire, embellishments one would otherwise not associate with fine dining, and very cool hair. The Superbowl has slowed the process of obtaining a liquor license, but they hope to get it shortly. This is officially my favourite restaurant in the city to date.
that is the new Twingos. they’ve recently remodeled from what i hear. the old one was nice but i hear the new version is a bit more “up scale”, but i haven’t been there yet. it’s only been re-opened for a short time i think.
It reopened right around the New Year. I was there for a pre-opening party back in the fall and it is quite impressive.
John Lopez (of Atlas Global Bistro and Agave) is managing it and Shawn Mac is the chef. Mac does amazing things with food.
I went to Twingos for the first time yesterday. Everything was great from the food to the ambiance to the servers and patrons. I will definitely be going back soon!
