Corktown Parade

I’m looking forward to heading over to Corktown tomorrow for the neighborhood’s annual St. Patrick’s Day parade.

It starts at 2 o’clock in the afternoon, but I’ll probably head over there around noon to kick off the festivities and catch a glimpse of the St. Patrick’s Parade Corktown races, which begin with a quarter-mile fun run at noon at Tiger Stadium. A 1.5-mile walk and four-mile run start at 12:30 pm. Proceeds benefit St. Patrick’s Food Bank.

Corktown, located on the city’s near west side, was named for the large number of residents that relocated to the neighborhood in the mid-1800s from County Cork, Ireland.
