Bleu

This past Friday I went out clubbing for the first time since becoming an official resident. It was quite painful as I went from paying $3 cover and paying nothing for my parking and diet cokes all night in the suburbs to dropping $30 on parking, cover, and coat check all before I walked through the door. However, this is quite the bargain if you’re looking for a night out in a big city. Bleu was a really nice club with a great layout and sweet decor. Friday night promoters had rented the club out to showcase their up and coming recording artists, which was a treat at the end of the night.

I agree. I have been to Bleu several times since they opened. The accoustics and atmosphere are simply amazing.

Do you have any other suggestions for clubs? Preferrably one’s with Ladies Nights or no cover before a certain hour . . . probably a bit of a stretch for the city . . .

Unfortunately, there are not a lot of clubs in the city that I’m aware of that have no cover or special nights. Some other cool clubs are Volume (formerly Panacea) and Envy. Outside of the city, I would recommend White Star on Conant in Hamtramck…usually $5.00 cover get you in the door and drinks are reasonable with specials Friday and Saturday.

I usually go to clubs for specific events/music so I’m not so aware of the deals or specials but you could probably get into Oslo for a late sushi dinner, not paying any cover, and stay for the party. For dancing to techno I usually end up there or in Corktown (the Works, Corktown Tavern) or occasionally Labyrinth or Bleu. I hear the Vault, by Volume, is pretty swanky just for general clubbing. I love Detroit clubs even if it means spending $50 on cover over the weekend.
