Vegetarian suggestions?

Like I need another favourite restaurant. This week my friend and I had a challenge finding alcohol-free and vegetarian meals at restaurants. Any suggestions?

    If you’re in the burbs, there’s Inn Season Cafe in Royal Oak, Pronto in Royal Oak, just about any ethnic restaurant will do and have veggie food items. In Ann Arbor, Seva has great vegetarian food. I’m not sure if you’re saying you wanted to avoid alcohol too. That might be more difficult in terms of the restaurant, but not the food.

    Karmic Cafe in the Guardian Building is an organic and vegan place… i’ve never tried it, but perhaps you could let us all know if it’s any good??? it’s open M-Th til 6 p.m. and til 3 p.m. on fridays…

    Hmmm. Depends upon what”vegetarian” and “alcohol free” mean. If vegan means no animal products, I might check around Wayne State University for vegan restaurants or ethnic fare, particularly Indian in metro Detroit or Windsor. (At one point in time there was an excellent Indian restaurant in Windsor near the tunnel whose name escapes me but had an interesting cuisine that was a mix of Indian food with French influence….ah yes!!!The Himalayan was the name. Don’t know if they’re still there and it has been a while but check it out.) If you are very strict vegan you might be able to call ahead with special requests if it’s still in business. You might even be able to do this at a more traditional restaurant in the area. And I am almost certain that there probably is at least one strict vegan restaurant in the Ann Arbor area. I am assuming that it would not be a problem if alcohol were served. Another suggestion might be Mongolian Barbeque. A strict vegan, totally alcohol free restaurant might be hard to find.     Thank you for all the suggestions. I have been to Seva and it is quite good. I was just hoping for vegetarian meals without alcohol as an ingredient. I cannot believe I didn’t notice the Karmic Cafe on all my visits to the Guardian Building . . . I’ll just have to make another . . .

    Both Ghandi Restaurant and Aladdin Sweets and Cafe in Hamtramck have great South Asian vegetarian menus. They serve Halal food, so you can be sure there will be no alcohol. I personally prefer the prices and atmosphere at Aladdin, though Ghandi has a larger vegetarian menu.
