Saturday Shopping

In speaking to Detroiters I have found that grocery shopping seems to be a grand adventure. The city doesn’t have the one-stop supermarkets of the suburbs, but this is what makes shopping so charming. This weekend I began my trip with lunch at Sala Thai in Eastern Market. The Thai was pretty good but the Sushi was even better. It had been a while since I was at the market, and my passivity was not the way to get anything done. I did manage to get the asparagus I was eying, convince my friend that the caged chickens were not good pets, and it was off to Milano Bakery. The banana cake was so incredibly tasty, minus the sugary icing, and the “day old” bread shelf is now my best friend. You pay the same price you would in a grocery store for infinitely better bread. I look forward to next Saturday . . .
