it’s quite possible that this summer we could have 2 parades celebrating 2 championships for 2 of Detroit’s major sports teams… currently, the Pistons have the best record in the NBA and are favorites to win it all… simultaneously, the Red Wings have the 2nd best record in the NHL and have a good chance of taking the Stanley Cup once again…

this is an incredible opportunity for any city, and especially Detroit… most cities are lucky to celebrate maybe 1 or 2 championships in any major sport within a 5-10 year span… it is nothing short of incredible to imagine that we could possibly celebrate 2 within the same summer… we’ve got a long way to go as the playoffs for both sports don’t start for a couple weeks, and even then both teams still have to earn their respective championships, but it’s fun to think about the possibility of celebrating 2 championships downtown this summer (and maybe even the Tigers will be somewhat decent?!?)… the celebrations would have a wonderful impact on the city and add more momentum to revitalization efforts downtown…
