The big day is here

Today at 9am the doors to the Canton Ikea open to the public. Anyone going? Anyone been camping out? What are your thoughts? Is it worth camping out three days for some free stuff, like the gift certificates and chairs offered to the first 99 customers?

One of those large electronic signs on I-96 this morning was indicating that there was “STORE TRAFFIC” south on 275 in Canton. Glad I’m getting off at Farmington Rd.

So here I am, sitting in the long line, at IKEA’s grand opening… blogging this via my webphone… and wondering… what the heck am I going to do for the next 6 hours…

i wish i had that kind of free time. and i wish my store made people line up to get in and news crews to cover it. but that’s why big companies get bigger and small companies stay small.

Ikea is weirdly addictive. When they came to California, many scoffed. Now we can’t live without it. Good deals, durable enough to last for 10 years — and then you want to redecorate anyway! Shop, enjoy, buy!
