Oh wait.. the Stanley Cup is still happening…

With the Red Wings eliminated weeks ago and of course, the excitement of the World Cup, I have completely lost track of the battles for the Stanley Cup and NBA Championship. But when the owner of the NHL-team-one-game-away-from-winning happens to be a prominent figure in the Metro-Detroit area, the Stanley Cup battle does make the news periodically.

Today’s story – if the Carolina Hurricanes win tonight, Peter Karmanos Jr wouldn’t mind displaying the Stanley Cup at Compuware’s headquarters.

So, Detroit, how do you feel about that idea? I think it is a nice idea – if the local team can’t win it all, why not support the local man who has done a lot for the community but just happens to own a rival NHL team?

i think that’d be cool, but i’m sure there are some hard-core Wings fans who might think otherwise…

I am a hardcore Wings fan. I am a true pure Hockey fan. And I think the attention Detroit would get if Karmanos displays the Cains cup in the D would be nothing but good. Hockey needs the attention. Detroit could use the positive press. Wings dont win, but the cup still comes home. I like it.
