Blogging From Another Metroblogging City

I am in New Orleans for the American Association of University Presses conference and am publishing via the free city of New Orleans internet access. How brilliant. I wonder how we would go about getting something like that in Detroit. Can Compuware not hook us up?

I love New Orleans. Alot of people say that, but I really Love New Orleans. I hope you get some free time to get some Beignets (cafe du monde, best coffe and snacks in the quarter). There is a porject in Oakland County right now that is aimed at Wi-Fi border to border. Just like everything else though, its just in the Burb.

You can find free wi-fi in a couple spots downtown Detroit. I know Campus Martius for sure… but I think Hart Plaza too.

Macomb has started to design a municipal wifi, as well.

As for Detroit: it would be nice, but it costs money…tax money and by the comments on another post it doesn’t look to be on the agenda. There are however, plenty of wifi hotspots around the Detroit area supplied by the businesses.
