TasteFest at Comerica

Got plans this weekend? Don’t forget to include a visit to the Comerica TasteFest at the New Center beginning this Friday.

This is a five day celebration of music, food and shops and is the New Center Council Inc’s vison of an ideal city. This year TasteFest includes more than 40 restaurants from across metro Detroit, nearly 60 musical acts on four stages and 24 retailers in an area called 2nd Avenue Street Market.

Debuting are the Asian Village, Centaur Bar, Clubhouse Tavern, Grand City Grille, La Pita Fresh, Lola’s, Louie’s Buscemi’s, Louisiana Creole Gumbo, Sticky Fingers and Sweet Lorraine’s.

The New Center Council Inc. uses the TasteFest proceeds to support retail improvment along Woodward Ave. Since the 1990’s over 130 million has been invested in the New Center neighborhood.

So forget about that diet this weekend and I’ll see you there!

sure, it’s called “Tastefest” which means the food is the focal point but you barely touched on the music. some of the bands (national & local) i’ll be watching and recommending are Ray Davies (from the Kinks), Lola Morales, SSM, The Paybacks, Loretta & the Larkspurs, the Grande Nationals and the Salt Miners. this year’s list seems to have more of my favorites so i’ll be spending more time this year than years past. if you see me give a wave…i’ll be the small white guy in big shorts and probably a skateboard t-shirt.

Hi, I am sorry but it has nothing to do with this article, i was reading your article on the detroit red wings and noticed you wrote “The NHL lockout cost the City between 80 and 100 million $$.” I am actually doing a report on the NHL lockout effects on different cities and I just want to know where did you find that figure. thank you very much.
