Summer Funtime on the Fourth

I miss having a ‘hood. Back when I lived in Rosedale Park, we’d play way past when the street lamps would go on, shooting hoops and going for another round of “Ghosts in the Graveyard”. Kids were everywhere, hiding, seeking and just plain having fun.

Today I got to go to an old-school block party down in Corktown. It felt like home more than anywhere else I’ve lived in several years. Kids everywhere. Fireworks. Softball. Rollie shoes, bicycles, hot dogs and canine dogs. People having a grand old time everywhere you look.

I’m looking forward to a point where I feel like I have a ‘hood again with friendly neighbors, and lots of kids. Maybe of my own (heh…someday)
