Another Wing flys the coupe

Brendan Shanahan packs his stuff and heads to New York.
Shanahan signed a one year deal to play for the Rangers. In New York he will net his 600th career goal, he is currently just 2 short. It would have been great to witness this in the Joe, but the Red Wings thought him to be done. For Detroit it was hard to justify $4 million dollars for the old timers 17th season.
I wonder is New York will dance the Irish Jig when Shanny announces his retirement half was through the season?

Farewell Shanny!

I think it was time for both parties to move on. As Shanny said, he didn’t feel part of the future here but part of the past instead. That is probably quite true. It’s time for the Wings to start a youth movement and bring up some of the young guys and give them a chance. Carolina just won the Cup with a rookie goalie. Why are we out chasing Crazy Eddie Belfour? Give Jimmy Howard a shot with Ozzy backing him up and see what happens. They still have a good mix but need to add some size on the wings and on D (sound the WDFN siren). Like the Pistons, it should be a pretty interesting season. Go Wings!
