Forum on Community Culture

I recently attended a citywide Forum on Community Culture, with panelists Anan Ameri (Director of the Arab-American Museum), Terry Blackhawk (Founder/Director of InsideOut Literary Arts Project), Tyree Guyton (Founder and Artist of the Heidelberg Project), Anne Parsons, (President of the DSO), Rick Sperling (Director of Mosaic Youth Theater), and Guest speaker Georges Collinet (Afropop radio)

Its fantastic to see how people attended and to see the kind of dialogue about race and culture going on in Detroit. Topics discussed en masse were how to bring more cultural awareness to the school and community as a whole.

I wish I had a tape recorder at the event, but suffice to say that I hope many more of these forums take place. One of the things we all walked away with was that it is clear that this sort of thing needs to happen more often.
