Vending machine makeover at DPS

The students may not be hot on the idea, but I think the members of the Detroit Public Schools Board of Education deserve a big round of applause for their recent decision to rid school vending machines and stores of pop and most high-sugar foods and fill them with low and no-sugar substitutes.

According to this article in the Detroit Free Press, the school board made its decision on the subject on Thursday and hopes to fill machines and stores with healthier alternatives like water and fruit.
