New Starbucks

i read in Model D Media that the new Starbucks in the Ellington on Woodward and Mack is supposed to be opening today… i just called over there and the phone doesn’t appear to be working… has anyone driven by there to see if anything is going on there yet!?!?

i’m pretty excited for this Starbucks to come as it’s a tad closer to me than the one at Wayne State… love ’em or hate ’em, they bring something good to the city…

Do they plan to actually be open during the hours I would actually go to Starbucks? The one by WSU has the worst hours of a coffeeshop I’ve ever seen – they’re not open on weekends and only open 7-5 on weekdays. I would assume this is for insurance reasons, but I hate going all the way down to Beans and Bytes just to get a cup of java at 7pm on a Sunday.

Oops. To reply to myself – they will have much better hours – I just wish the one as WSU had similar hours.

i think the one at WSU will have better hours once the schoolyear starts up…

I think the one at WSU and possibly Ellington could benefit from being open 24 hours.

There is one in dearborn open 24/7 and the area isn’t even busy at all.

They will never be open 24/7 in Detroit until insurance rates fall. fall A LOT. Can you imagine the insurance premium on a shop open 24/7 in Detroit? It would be sick.

Tim Horton’s – get in here before they take over the city . . . even though I really like their caramel macchiatos . . .

I’ve got to agree with Mollika — I would much rather see Tim Horton’s cropping up all over the place than more Starbucks!! All of our Canadian friends definitely have the right idea.

Went there today. Was very pleased. Parking lot was clean and bum-free and my coffee was warm and delicious. Their hours are great and I intend to go back frequently.

To me, this is a huge step up for (a starbucks-addict like me) to live in the city.
