Last night, I had the opportunity to grab a few drinks during happy hour at McCormick & Schmicks in Troy (next to the Somerset Collection) – definitely my favorite bar in the Metro area. Comfy decor, nice staff, packed after work, great prices on expensive drinks during happy hour, and a $2 barfood menu during happy hour.

without a doubt it’s Ye Olde Tap Room at Charlevoix & Alter (Grosse Pointe area). over 250 different beers, the occasional local band and not to mention it’s near my house.
I’ve been to Ye Olde Tap Room before. It’s the kind of bar that you have to wear your jacket inside in the winter because it’s soo cold in there. Where do they find room to put a band in there??
I really enjoyed the Double Olive in GPP, but last I drove past, they were all shut up. I hear they’re for sale now. I really enjoyed going up there on a Friday night and listen to Darren Revell (former 96.3 host of long cancelled Big Sonic Heaven) spin.
My main spot is nothing special. Its a hole-in-the-wall called McGee’s in Eastpointe. Its just one of those places that I know everyone in the bar and people worry if they don’t see you one weekend.
