Clean Downtown Project
Have you seen the men and women who are dressed in green uniforms cleaning up the streets and parks Downtown? They are everywhere at any time. I have watched while they make sure Grand Circus Park is swept and the grass is raked. They have about six trucks that have power washing equipment and tools. Saw one power washing the sidewalk this morning at Washington and Park.
It’s really not the City that is doing this. The orginization, called Clean Downtown, is privately funded and has a budget for 2006 of 1.2 million dollars. Of that, $600,000 is contributed by non other that Roger Penske. He has put his own money into this investment in Downtown Detroit. His goal is to continue the task completed for SBXL. and that was to make Detroit shine.
The project boarders Jefferson, Adams, Beubien and Cass. There are about 40 workers from the Good Will Project and they work every day. So next time you see them helping to make our city look beautiful, give them a grateful thanks and tell them they are doing a great job.

Very good and useful organisation. I would be happy to see these green uniforms in my town, because with every day it becomes dirter and dirter. Detroit Clean Downtown, carry on!!!
I have seen the trucks around the city and they make me happy. I love the look of the organization and I do hope the workers are proud of doing their jobs as I am so pleased that they are doing such a wonderful thing for the city’s image.
