Off to the Game with an Identity Crisis
Off to the ball game. It is so very exciting that we’re in the Playoffs. I am of course having a slight moral dilemma. Being a Toronto girl, born and raised, I am not quite sure if I should stand by my Jays or cheer for my Tigers. I will keep my nationalistic instinct quiet for fear of being pelted with Tiger tails. Also, I have been fortunate to see the Jays win the World Series during Toronto’s comeback, and I hope to be fortunate to see Detroit during hers. I wonder if Windsor people identify more with the Toronto Blue Jays or more with the Detroit Tigers . . .
That’s a tough one. When my husband moved here from NY a few years ago, he wore a Yankees hat to the Tigers/Yankees game and Tiger fans were not very happy about it…suffice to say, he is now a full-out Tiger fan and will be rooting for them if they end up playing the Yankees in the post-season.
you BETTER root for the Tigs…..
So I cheered for both teams; silently for one and more audibly for the other. It was horrible watching the busloads of Windsor people leaving disappointed. It was however quite a site to see six Windsor busses in line down Broadway – I think it was Broadway . . .
