Papa’s Pizza
Me, I’ve always wanted to go out in the neighborhoods of Detroit and eat at all the local (“mom and pop”) eateries. Tuesday night I figured it was time to try one.
At 7801 Michigan Ave (at Casper) a small red and white corner storefront always had its door wide open, advertising pizza with various signs, such as a large pizza for $5.
Coming back from the city we pulled into the parking lot and headed in. We then learned of the name, Papa’s Pizza. We were greeting by a nice man, who I presume was the owner. We placed an order for a large ham pizza with a 2-liter of Pepsi. We payed for our meal, grabbed their coupons/ad and waited out on Michigan Ave. From the window we could see the pizza being freshly prepared, from the dough, to the toppings, and finally to the oven with the man constantly tending to it.
15 minutes later our pizza was done, cut with a large knife, and boxed up. We quickly headed home and tasted the fresh pizza. While not the best pizza I’ve ever had, It gained the stamp of approval of my friends and I. We’d glady get it again.
