Tonights Game: Why I love Detroit

I’ve never seen so many happy people in my entire life.

I watched the game at the Old Shillelagh in Greektown. Afters Mags hit the walk off home run, the bar erupted in celebration. “We are the Champions” played on the speakers and everyone was hugging and giving each other high fives. People were chanting “Here we are Tigers.” and clapping. What a celebration!

After the game, I made my way to Grand Circus Park to share in the joy with the revelers leaving the game. Eventually, my friends and I boarded the People Mover and made our way back to our car in the Financial District.

I’ve seen my share of victory celebrations (I did go to MSU :)) – but nothing parallels tonight’s celebrations. Everyone was smiling and giving each other high-fives. Even sitting in traffic was fun. Everyone was peaceful and jubilant. I love Detroiters.

The Detroit Tigers are in the World Series!! Can you believe that!? I can’t wait. I plan to be downtown celebrating every single game.
