Ephin’ Good Food

I wrote about The Bread Basket a while ago, touting it one of the best Delis this side of Grand Central. However, I neglected to add one very good place in the heart of the D.

Tucked away near the MGM casino is a little box full of corned beef, pickles and ephemera – Eph McNally’s. If you’re not hungry you can just sit beneath the old tin ceiling and listen to the tunes as music videos and albums covers flash about on the tv screen. Lunchboxes from my childhood line the wall on one side, old board games and photos. You can grab a magazine and read up on what’s going on if pickles aren’t your thing.

But trust me, it’s a good $7.00 spent. I had some Beef and Black Bean stew with a garnish of Cilantro there today and hot damn was it good. The waiter said “I’m glad the name is kind of freaking people out a bit, ‘coz that means there will be more left over for me..”

I would’ve taken home a pot if I could.
