Filming the D’

Got movies?? I grew up at the movies. Probably why I have such a wild imagination. I think I missed my calling when I recieved the “Best Male Actor” award as a senior in highschool, but that’s another story.

I’m talking movies that were made about or in the D’. Can you think of any right off hand?

My favorite is “”True Romance” with Christian Slater. All of the movies made about the D’ pretty much paint the City with a broad brush but most were alot of fun to watch.

Which leads me to my point. Courttv did a thing on movies made about Detroit recently and it’s worth reading. I’ve seen almost all of them but there are a few I didn’t know about. Have fun. . .

Beverly Hills Cop. 8 Mile, of course. There was a TV movie years ago about the Temptations. And one of my all-time favorites — Gross Pointe Blank!

What was the Jay leno movie about some secret motor… I have seen it on cable before… all filmed here… lots of scenes of Dearborn and Detroit.

A section of the movie “The Island” was filmed right in downtown, that was pretty sweet.

And I see Lee mentioned it already, but Grosse Pointe Blank was another great Detroit-ish movie. But I think the only shot actually filmed in metro Detroit was a shot where some of the characters are driving down Jefferson/Lake Shore Drive.

“Out of Sight” with George Clooney and Jennifer Lopez if the Renaissance Center and Bloomfield Hills counts.
